Modular Perspective Audio

What is MPA?

Modular Perspective Audio (MPA) is an original audio storytelling methodology developed at Audio Drama Studios beginning in 2020. The method was created in response to the growing need to expand the storytelling toolbox in the audio medium—deepening the listener’s engagement and transforming the experience from passive to active.

At the heart of MPA lies a radically new narrative concept:
Scenes are not constructed merely from “sounds” – they are composed of “experienced moments.” Each moment belongs to a specific point of view: a character within the scene, the listener themselves, or even an object. Each of these perspectives carries unique auditory attributes defined by its position in space, movement, emotional quality, and its subjective perception of the audible reality.

This approach aims to create a dynamic map of perspectives that organically guides the listener through shifting points of view. The result is a layered narrative that:

  • Presents multiple interpretations of the same reality,

  • Enhances dramatic tension between conflicting motivations,

  • Expands the symbolic and imaginative vocabulary of sound, and

  • Empowers the listener to direct the auditory scene in their own mind.

MPA productions are recorded on-location, using real environments and live actor movement, combined with advanced 3D recording techniques. The goal is not simply to tell a story, but to immerse the listener within it—allowing them to feel as if they are physically present inside the world of the narrative.

In doing so, MPA redefines what audio storytelling can be: multi-layered, emotionally immersive, and fundamentally human.
